The Human Resources department manages the staff of an organisation and takes care of every activity related to that, such as recruiting and training. It also deals with the issues associated with them in their working environment, ensuring their satisfaction on the job.

The objectives of human resources management can fit within four main categories:

· Societal: these aspects take care of attaching ethical responsibilities to the policies of an organisation. They make sure that employees get fair deals of employment, whilst making sure that the products or services of the said organisation maintain quality standards and investors get returns.

· Organisational: these exist to make sure that the role of human resources management gets recognised to guarantee its effectiveness.

· Functional: these are set for every department within the organisation. Human resources, as a fundamental department in every organisation, needs to be analysed and modified to suit the goals of its company.

· Personal: these constitute a very important part in the pursuit of the company`s objectives, as they ensure that employees` personal goals are met, making sure in turn that employees are motivated to perform well within the organisation. When this takes place, the organisation is in an optimal position to thrive.

The benefits of a clear recruitment process are various. Being clear during the recruitment process could show the honesty of the organisation, making it likely for top employees to join the pool of applicants. Attracting the best employees elevates the morale of the staff, besides their performance and therefore the company`s reputation. Having a clear recruitment process could also lead to less improvisation whenever hiring new people should be necessary. Also, I couldn`t think of any downsides of having a clear recruitment process.

I believe there surely is a need for HR specialists. This role actively supports the employer in finding the best candidates possible for the needs of the organisation. They manage the recruitment of applicants, gather and evaluate resumes, then proceed to interview and select the right people. This process goes beyond simply putting out job announcements and meet the people who apply for them, it involves a deep understanding of what a company needs to reach its goals and then accordingly detecting the matching skills in applicants. This role has evolved over the years to satisfy the ever-changing requirements of organisations. More in detail, the HR department used to take care of staff management through administrative tasks. In more recent years though, at least in those organisations that keep up with the times, the HR department and its components have shifted their attention massively in keeping their employees motivated through morale strengthening practices and developing a strong culture within the organisation. I believe the studies on the matter have shown unmistakenly better results in those companies that focus their HR management efforts in keeping up with the employees` objectives, using techniques of servant leadership and maintaining staff morale high.

The ethics of human resources management about the organisation are mainly to ensure that the staff employed meet the requirement for the pursuit of the organisation`s objectives. It`s one of the fundamental roles of HRM to help the company reach its goals through recruiting, training and maintaining the best employees possible. On the other hand, the HRM is required to guarantee fair compensation for the employees` work, maintain them motivated and deal with any issue regarding their lives within the organisation.

The relationship between personal effectiveness and people management is the direct correlation between the employees' satisfaction and their performance. It`s only logical that if the staff of a company performs well, there`s very little chance for that company to perform badly on the market or to go out of business. The easiest way for the staff to perform well is to align their objectives with the reaching of the company`s goals. Therefore, when human resources management takes into account the personal accomplishment of the individuals, it can create optimal results for both the staff and the company.

The main functions of HRM are :

· Use human resources in the most effective way

· Create the circumstances for the best development of relationships between the people of the organisation

· To support the employees in the accomplishment of their objectives, helping them reach their highest potential

Several things come to mind when I think about opportunities for staff development :

· During the interview to hire them, outline what their personal objectives are, both short term and long term

· Monthly individual meetings. This keeps the company and the employee updated on their performance in regards to the objectives of their position within the organisation and their accomplishment as individuals thanks to their job

· Provide training, whether in groups or individual, to keep them up to date with the industry standards and the advancements of their fields
